I liked how the way that it was written was like a journal in which you couldn't really tell at just the format of the page but once you started reading and it was all in the perspective of the "white teacher". The white teacher basically just talked about all of her experiences so far with dealing with children in multicultural schools and how they interact with each other. Some of her students had problems dealing with being different from the majority of the others in the classroom while others were very proud of who they were. I didn't always agree with all of the ways that she handled situations but the majority of them I did. When dealing with children at a young age who may grow up in a house where they learn their parents views and so there for once they get to the classroom they may express these same views and it might not be the right way to look at it in the view of society. For instance at this point in time everyone no matter your color or ethnicity you were supposed to be treated equally; well one of the children was using bad language and being aggressive towards anyone that wasn't white. This wasn't acceptable in that day in age and one of the ways that the teacher tried handling this was that for every good thing the child did she would compliment him, which I think is a good strategy but you also have to punish them for the bad things so this way they don't think they can continue to do the bad things but do one good thing a day and be rewarded. In the end it all worked but and I think that the way that she handled most situations were good ways that I guess you learn with experience which also ties into what we've been saying about being educated you learn through you experiences. That this teacher was being educated by the children that she was teaching by learning different ways to handle different situations but also different ways to deal with her own personal issues she talked about.
